Show Panguitch Mayor Torgerson Signs 1 Hed Ribbon Week" Proclamation : Panguitch Mayor Jon Torgerson signed a proclamation Tuesday declaring the week of Oct. 23-30 "Red Ribbon Week" in Panguitch. The Red Ribbon Campaign is sponsored by the National Federation Federa-tion of Parents for Drug-Free Youth and the Utah Federation for Drug-Free Drug-Free Youth. Serving as Honorary National Chairmen are President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. Utah's chairmen are Gov. and Mrs. Norman Bangerter. The first objective of the campaign cam-paign is to establish a network of people in every community to plan Red Ribbon Week awareness programs pro-grams and activities. The mobilization mobiliza-tion is designed to lead to continuing continu-ing education, and finally, action. The solution, sponsors say, to alcohol al-cohol and other drug problems is not awareness; the solution, they say, is action. Awareness is the bridge leading from ignorance to action. Another objective is to build coalitions between public and private pri-vate sectors, and the third objective is to raise funds for the National Federation of Parents and the Utah Federation for Drug-Free Youth. The Red Ribbon has become the symbol to reduce the demand of drugs, jus: as the yellow ribbon symbolized the hostages in Iran and the green ribbons symbolized murdered mur-dered children in Atlanta. ifni ' "''' ,,'"'" '"' ' ' ' '.
