"Indeed, this is a time when the agri-scientist, agri-politician, agri-economist agri-economist with excellent scholarship, communications ability and who knows how to work will find a brighter future than any previous generation of college graduates," Wallentine said. He said world trade in agriculture goods is growing by leaps and bounds. Bilingual students, of which there are many in Utah, will have particularly good opportunities, he said. Wallentine challenged the agriculture education leaders to do a better job of telling the positive side of agriculture, so more students will enroll in agriculture and "agribusiness courses at both high school and college levels. "Future food abundance in the race between the stork and the plow will require a new generation of agriculture leaders who are well trained and capable of operating in a world-wide environment," Wallentine added. |
