Show f ' JUST STUFF L BY JAN I feel lucky when I realize there is a holiday in the future in time to write about it in my column. And this week I guess I'm doubly blessed because two holidays loom in the future President's Day and Valentines Day. Actually, though, I'm between a rock and a hard spot. Which should I write about? I'll admit, we have had some great presidents through the years. In fact, I'd even be so bold as to say that each of them had some positive qualities well worth remembering. They each made some beneficial contribution to the nation. Unfortunately, Un-fortunately, except for the "all time greats", we tend to focus on the negative aspects of their lives. Enough good is not said. However, due to lack of interest on my part (at least I'm honest), I've decided not to research the past presidents to find their good points. Instead, I've decided to write about something a little closer to home than the past presidents and their birthdays. Instead of Presidents' Day, I opted for Valentines Day. Gone are the days of the shoe boxes decorated with doilies, tin foil and red construction paper and the little "Be Mine" valentines with "To:" and "From:" printed on the back. Why, I can't even remember the last time I kicked a Valentine to someone besides family. Those days may be gone, but they're not forgotten. We all have a Valentine we cherish in our heart. Mine is my husband Kraig, who I find I love more and more each day. I remember thinking as I walked down aisle and saw him through my bridal veil, standing tall and handsome han-dsome in his tuxedo and tails, that I could never love anyone more than I did him that day. But I was wrong. Love grows. Mind you, we've had our tiffs and it takes a lot of effort on both parts, but Kraig is a wonderful husband and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I love you babe and happy Valentine's Day. |
