Show Measure Plan To Help In Repair Of Tropic System The Color Country Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council has completed a measure plan to repair damage to the Tropic culinary collection system. sys-tem. In the spring of 1986, floods on the Paria River removed a grade stabilization structure in the channel, chan-nel, allowing flood waters to undercut a riprap wall protecting the culinary collection system for the town of Tropic. The collection system is located in Bryce Canyon National Park. The town of Tropic contacted Tom V. Hatch, chairman of the Color Country RC&D committee requesting financial assistance to repair the damage. This project was added to the Color Country RC&D list of projects. The Measure Plan and Environmental Environ-mental Assessment has now been completed by the Soil Conservation service and approved by the RC&D Council. Based on the completed plan, the state RC&D committee approved approximately $47,500 in RC&D grant money to install the project. The Color Country RC&D Council is a group made up of rep-resentatives rep-resentatives of county commissioners, Soil Conservation Districts and town mayors in Garfield, Beaver, Iron, Kane and Washington counties. Objectives of the group are to improve the quality of life of area residents through conservation and development of the area resource. Tom McCormick, town engineer, engi-neer, is presently working with the Soil Conservation Service on final design and a project agreement should be signed by July 1, with construction to begin shortly thereafter. there-after.
