Show Panguitch News Sunny, blue skies and bluer mountains with a carpet of tan on the valley floor is the color scheme here. Brian Head workers from town have gone up to get ready for business busi-ness and are keeping their fingers crossed hoping for snow to slide on. Some folks are leaving for the holidays and others, arriving for the same reason. The Stan Andrews are back in their home next to the Baptist Church. Rachel Anderson had her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and J'lene Mendenhall, with her. They went to Cedar City to enjoy the mellow tones and music of the Christmas Choral at Southern Utah State College. Allen Lloyd and his sister Mamie Lloyd Winkler, Hurricane, came to visit their hometown and spend time with relatives the France Millers, Emil Norton and Mamie Talbot. Merle Prince is scheduled for back surgery and Lois Miller for knee replacement this week. Maxine Hcnrie underwent a knee replacement in St. George and is coming along fine. Destry Miller, son of Kent Miller and Caroline Wildes, received re-ceived his Eagle Scout award in Clarksdale, Ariz. Most of the family fam-ily attended the ceremony. Destry, at age 16, is a licensed airplane pilot pi-lot and is the grandson of the France Millers. The Panguitch Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their well attended at-tended Christmas party at the Senior Se-nior Citizens Center. Golda Julan-der Julan-der was the winner of the beautiful DUP quilt that has been displayed in the old SUE building window. Elizabeth Foy and Verda Oldham gave pioneer Christmas histories of Oak City and Panguitch. Gwen Frandsen read a story written by Annie Clark, a 14-year-old pioneer girl. Gai Wilcock gave Christmas Carol stories and appropriate music was rendered by Mary Nolan, Rebecca Re-becca Brinkerhoff, Brenda McKeee, Joslyn Christy, and Eileen McKee, accompanied by Michelle Bell. The Tom Jarmans have moved into their beautiful log home on Bill Dodds Knoll. An old-time house went up in smoke as the city firemen practiced their skills by burning the old Jack Judd house in the southwest part of town. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Cooper will put a new double-wide mobile home on the site as they move back home after many years in Idaho. The Kevin Hepworths, Clearfield, spent a pre-Christmas holiday with his folks. The Panguitch LDS Seminary Council gave the program in the Panguitch LDS First Ward sacrament meeting. Speakers were Susie Holman, Russell Harris, Cherish Tebbs, Nathan Henrie, David Tebbs, and instructor Lloyd LeFevre. Lucile Bridges was released re-leased and Jackie Reynolds, sustained sus-tained as Primary Inservice leader. Others called to work in the Primary Pri-mary and Sunday School were Elaine Baldwin, Lue Christenson, Marilyn Marshall and Julie Hatch. The Clark Howards had Flora's folks Mr. and Mrs. Vance Pope visiting with them. Many townsfolk attended the National Rodeo finals in Las Vegas and many more were at the Mesquite basketball tournament this past week in which our boys did a great job. The Del Hulet's red brick early-Panguitch-home has had a face lift. . The former Parley-Ipson-and-Herb-Allen owned home now has a white simulated brick stucco exterior. Emma Ahlstrom underwent surgery in Salt Lake City for a brain tumor. She is recovering well. The Dale Greys have moved into the old Matt Evans home. The Duff family moved from there into the home by the Purple Sage Motel. Maxine Crosby has been in Milford caring for Jaynell Bailey's family while Jaynell and Phillip took their baby to Salt Lake City for treatment of spinal meningitis. The Val Churches closed their Blue Pine Motel for awhile and went north to be with their kids. Mary Henrie has gone north for the holidays and Kate Church and the Clem Churches are up there caring for Gary Church's baby who has had heart surgery. The baby came through fine. Elizabeth Foy spent three weeks with her kids, the Howard Foys and Caroline Robinson family, in Ponca City, Okla., and Las Vegas. Many Christmas parties are going go-ing on in the different churches and organizations. They make for a time of joy and fellowship. |
