Show Mustangs Win Again On The Road By John Yardley The Bryce Valley Mustangs took their show on the road for the second week in a row and knocked off a tough Milford team at Milford 61-49. In other league games, Panguitch let one get away at Piute 69-64 and Escalante got beaten badly in the second half at Enterprise Enter-prise 93-70. In other league games, Wayne shocked Valley 75-57 at Orderville and Enterprise stopped the Buffaloes on Saturday 52-50. Those wins all together spell a mess at the top in Region standings. Enterprise En-terprise and Wayne have shaken things up, while Panguitch and Valley have fallen into third place with Piute at three losses each. Of the top six teams; Enterprise, Wayne, Piute, Panguitch, Valley and Bryce Valley, only five can qualify for State tournament play. Milford and Escalante still hope to figure into that scenario as well. It looks like a fun month of February. At Milford, Bryce Valley jumped out 29-21 at the half and never looked back. Again this week, BV just got the balance they have been looking for. Justin Grimmer pumped in 14, followed by Matt Shakespear with 12, David Shakespear 1 1 , and Chance Stewart with 10. The Mustangs are definitely defi-nitely "on a roll." This week they play red-hot Enterprise on the road. It should be a dandy. Panguitch got back into the game in the second half leading by three after trailing by 13 in the first half. But, cold free throw shooting and failure to adjust to Piute's press See Mustangs Win Page 4A Mustangs Win From Page 1 cost them the game. Kenny Tebbs' three-pointer rattled in and out with 34 seconds to play and the Bobcats down by four, which may have made a big difference. MarKay Englestead and Jeremy Henrie threw down 15 each and Aaron Howard 12 to lead the Bobcat scoring. scor-ing. Garrett Hansen, the big center from Piute and a Garfield County resident contributed 10 points and a bunch of rebounds, while Jason Re-itz Re-itz hit 23, Paul Morgan 16 and Bryant Johnson 13 for Piute. Escalante led Enterprise 39-33 at half time, but the scoring blitz by the Wolves left the Moquis on the short end in the second half. A poor shooting third quarter nailed the boys in red and white. Gerald Roundy shot in 22, Heath Spencer 16 and Robin Venuti 14 for Escalante. The Moquis are in so many games lately, but unable to get over the hump for victory. This week the task does not get any easier, as they entertain Valley at home. |
