Show Panguitch Hgws By Earl Roe 676-2376 Just a gentle reminder that the Fall colors along highway 143 do not last long. If you have not traveled 143 recently or at least been around the lake, you might be interested in seeing the work being done at the Panguitch Lake Resort subdivision. It appears that most, if not all, of the underground work is finished and work is now being done on the access roads to the various building sites. We may have a small city along the south shore in the near future. I visited with Mamie this evening and she says she is feeling good but still quite tired. She is happy to be home, but still must return to Salt Lake City a couple of times for follow up exams. She asked if I would continue to write the Panguitch News until the first of the year. Diane Whitley and her children have moved to the Salt Lake City area to join her husband, Jim, who has employment there. Jim has resigned his position on the Ron w ill Liliu inn in f I i II "Ti-7-rn-.,i,rg'- a vacancy which must be fil'cd within 30 days. Anyone from Panguitch Precinct 1 interested in applying for the position for tie remainder of Mr. Whiteley's tern, should make it known to tic District Office as soon as possible Panguitch Lions Allen Henri, Harold Scvy, Mac Octting, Wallac Henrie, and Earl Roe, along with their wives Jcannie, Winona, Pat, Sherril and Evalyn, respectively, attended the district banquet at Ruby's Inn last Saturday evening. It surely is nice to have a facility such as this where large conventions conven-tions can be accommodated. Jay and Maxine Crosby have had their son, Norman, and his family here for a few days. They spent their time working at their cabin site near Blue Spring. It seems that whenever sons or sons-in-law have a few days off they visit Jay and Maxine and work on the cabin. Jay is still doing a little fishing, and today, the 12th, he and Fred Johnson had a little motor trouble on a wind swept lake, but managed to make shore safely. Another new home is going up in Panguitch. This one is being built for Todd and Leisa Henrie Brienholt who are coming back home. Opal Miller has purchased the home of her parents, Frank and Roene Houston, located across Mnin Street from her present home. "'TTguess sue hated to sec it leave the family). Her daughters, Jancll and Carolyn, and families have been visiting with her. Food for Thought: I still keep hearing rumors about the sawmill closing or being sold. Would it be feasible for the citizens of Panguitch to buy this mill? There certainly are enough local people with the skills to operate the mill. Could a corporation be established, sell stock, and keep this mill as a local industry? There would be quite a few advantages to being a small, locally owned business. I don't know the hows, whens or ifs, but someone out there does. It's something to think about! Beneath this stone lies Elmer Gush; tickled to death by his shaving brush." Burma Shave. |
