Show ( E'SCALAKTE NEV,W 1 By Harriet Pnska 826-4810 The long, hot summer continues. I just had a hummingbird inspect my window. They are fortunate that so many people keep their feeders filled for them. Almost everyone has their third cutting of hay put up and are thankful to have done so. Some bottling is going on but not with the usual fervor. Bill and Dawn Griffin went to Mesquite and all 35 of their family members joined them there for a fun reunion. Iola and Hayncs Woolscy drove over to Loma, Colo, for a week to rest and visit their son and daughter-in-law Mcrlo and Kathy Woolsey and grandsons Jeffrey and Palrik. Carolyn and Vergcan Porter attended the Spencer reunion held at Lions Park in Provo. Hosts Jim and Janet Spencer were pleased to have 60 people in attendance. Sheila Wooley was assisted by RuthAnn Oliver in hanging a display of her western oil paintings at the Panguitch Library which adjoins the new city offices. The show will be up through the month of September. Jay Belbe and his son Jason Belbe of San Diego, Calif, made a quick visit to Escalante and visited with Harriet and Phillip Priska. Jay still dreams of living here someday. Black powder enthusiasts please note that the Escalante Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Lions Club is planning the first annual Mountain Man Rendezvous for June of 1995 in Upper Valley. The organizational meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., upstairs in the community center. We will need many volunteers to make this a successful event. It would be nice to see a gun club formed to support the shooting events. Please come! |
