Show Feels Slighted This letter is to try in some way to understand the reason Garfield County School District President Ray Englestead failed to attend the 1989 graduation exercises of Tica-boo Tica-boo High School on the evening of ' May 17. Since the school board held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 4 p.m. on that day in the Ticaboo School and dismissed dis-missed at 6:55 p.m. so the members mem-bers could attend the graduation ceremony being held at 7 p.m. only one mile away, we feel some explanation for his absence is necessary. Does his support of school functions fail to encompass Ticaboo Tica-boo School? Are the students of Ticaboo School not entitled to have the same representation from the school board as other Garfield County School District students? The graduation exercises were only 45 minutes long; is it too much to ask, after being in the area only one mile away for him to spend 45 minutes at graduation? We feel a public apology is due the 1989 graduating class of Ticaboo Tica-boo High School. Mr. Ray Englestead should be embarrassed to claim he represents the Garfield County School District under these circumstances. His job is to work for the educational welfare wel-fare of all students of Garfield County. His job does not include embarrassing these students just because they live and go to school on the wrong side of Garfield County. The students of Ticaboo School are entitled to the same education and representation as students of the other schools in Garfield County. We do not feel they are receiving this equal education or representation at the present time. Roy Strom, Principal Polly Sanderson, Secretary Ticaboo School |
