Show CITY fi ti fl cil HACES CHANGE S HANDS hervin bunderson succeeds james knudson as mayor C 0 roskelley city manager at 12 yesterday tho the reins of 0 city government of 0 brigham city passed from the hands of mayor james knudson and a council composed of 0 N J valentine james jensen moroni jensen joseph L wight and lorenzo J bott bolt and was placed in the hands 0 of mayor hervin bunderson and a council composed of moroni jensen james jensen orson A christensen Chrls S C wixom and W H gleave cleave james jensen succeeded himself as councilman in the recent city election and moroni jensen Is the holdover councilman the turnover turn over was accompanied hy by expressions of good wishes and pledges of 0 support on the part ot of the outgoing officials and gratitude for these expressions with the assurance that they will appreciate all the help given them and a pledge to do their utmost to carry on on the part of the new the former mayor and council held a meeting at 11 and after disposing of all unfinished business turned the affairs ot of the city government over to the new incumbents in ia tiptop tip top shape mayor bunderson and the new councilmen then took over the reins of government and before holding their first meeting rev C E fowler offered a beautiful and inspiring prayer the mayor said that brigham city had been particularly blessed in the past by having men of high ideals as its mayors and city councilmen he could not remember in the history of the city a single instance where fraud of any nature had even been attempted and that the affairs of the city had been taken care of in an honest and efficient manner ile he said he was sure the new officials were open to advice from the citizens and leading pen men of the community and that their counsel would be given due dua consideration yet in the end it will be up to the mayor and council to use their individual judgment in administering the affairs of the city the first business of the new city council was the naming of officers tor for the de various appointive offices and upon 4 ithe the recommendation of mayor bunderson the following were unanimously sustained city manager C 0 roskelley who succeeds ruel at M eskelsen city attorney win E davis succeeding B D C call sanitary inspector john H burt succeeding A M nielsen chief 0 of i police john R evans succeeding isaac A jensen night watchmen mack robinette Ko binette and martin bergen the appointment ot of a city sexton was deferred and the meeting adjourned until wednesday afternoon at 1 mayor knudson manager eskelsen and the former members of the city council have served brigham city well during the past two years and have given the city an economic and efficient administration they have given much of their time in the interests ot of the city tor for which no doubt the citizens generally are grateful probably the largest accomplishment of 0 the outgoing administration was the installation of 0 cast iron pipe varying from 12 to 16 inches in diameter from the hailing spring to the head of the canyon where it connects up with the feeding mains into this city this was completed at an approximate cost ol of and gives the citizens an assurance cf pure water tor for culinary purposes another big project was the completion of the city electric plant distributing system which involved an expenditure of approximately brigham city caty today has one of the best and safest electric distributing systems in the state the work having been done under the direction of the city officials and city manager by city electrician W R aleaner and his aids in the water works department meters were installed in zone no ko 1 which includes cita mainly the suburbs of th the city Y considerable money was also expended here A parking program was also commenced which included the purchase of additional ground at pioneer park there ate are also a number of 0 other accomplishments of less magnitude which are nevertheless advantageous to brigham city we congratulate the outgoing officials on their efficient administration |
