ASSN v467 E-300iS - ' SLOf-UT 84111 Travel 0 yce Canyon for Future Tours RUBYS INN - Fourteen respresentatives of travel agencies and tour companies visited Bryce Canyon Monday on a sightseeing tour of the county to learn more about the Color Country area for booking future tours for their customers. The were entertained by represlr tatives of the Garfield Ad Council and local business people from ail over the county at Rubys Inn wufcte they viewed video tapes and satf firsthand much of the beauty of the area. The tour was arranged by Utah Travel Council's assistant director Ann King, and Alison Barnett. The visitors enjoyed a tour of Bryce Canyon after a slide presentation and lecture at the visitors center by Margaret Lit-tlejohn of the National Park Service. Following their tour the group was given a reception and shown video tapes of the county sightseeing offerings. Each visitor was presented with a packet of materials explaining the tourist benefits of the county. The visitors joined with many local businessman for dinner at Rubys Inn and semed to agree that the county should be included on any tour of Utah. The group began its tour in Las Vegas and visited Zion National Park before arriving at Bryce Canyon for the night. Following breakfast Tuesday morning they boarded their bus for the trip to Capitol Reef, followed by Lake Powell, Dead Horse Point, Arches National Park, Park City and Salt Lake City before heading back to their homes in Iowa, Minnesota, Wyoming, Indiana, Florida, Ohio and Michigan. Coordinating the reception and preparing the packets for the tour group were Nancy Bales and Barbara Corliss, Garfield and Council members. Lodging for the night was provided Rubys Inn and meals were provided by the Ad Council to promote tourism in Garfield County. |
