Show JKidnap Victim Target . Of Bryce Cenyon Search BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK Cooperating with Sunset, Utah Chief of Police, Garfield County law enforcement personnel and volunteer searchers spent two days searching the Bryce Canyon area for Rachel Marie Itunyon, 3 who was kidnapped from a playground in Sunset recently. Sunset Police Chief Archie Searle headed up the Garfield. County Jeep Posse Search and Rescue unit in conducting a ground search. Officer Phil Olmstead, also of Sunset Police Department along with Garfield County Sheriff Vic Middleton and through the cooperation of Seis Data Company working in the area conducted a helicopter search over a wide area. Utah Highway Patrol troopers also assisted in the effort. The search began about 5 p.m. Monday evening and was called off at dark, resuming again on Tuesday until it was called off about 2:30 p.m. with no positive results. Approximately 20 volunteers assisted in the search effort which also included Red Canyon, Tropic Reservoir and Pine Lake areas and all of Bryce Canyon National Park. Chief Searle said that leads have been almost too numerous to follow since the August 26 abduction of the little girl, but they have persisted in following up every possibility. |
