Show Tropic Park Project Nearing Completion TROPIC Tropic residents, young and old, turned out in numbers Monday evening to work together to complete preparation of the park property for planting of grass seed on Saturday, May 2. The hard working group raked rocks into piles which were hauled away and the area was carefully raked to ready the surface for planting. A call for assistance one more time on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. has gone out as a final effort to plant the two-and-one-half acre plot with grass seed to have a lawn ready for use on July 4. Approximately 75 people turned out Monday evening with most remaining for a town-sponsored weiner roast just after dark. Tropic Mayor Reed LeFevre noted that Monday night's family effort accomplished more in slightly over two hours than six people working all day Saturday had managed. He said that Saturday morning's grass seed planting should go quickly if about 20 willing workers show up to help. The early morning start (7 a.m.) while the air is still should also make the sowing of grass seed easier. With luck trees will soon be added and playground equipment for the town's youngsters. |
