Show Californians Sentenced In Wildlife Offenses Two California vacationers were apprehended by Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officer Brent Christensen, cited on three separate offenses and notified to appear in Tenth Circuit Court this past week. Richard S. Gibson, 26 and Bruce Edward Moore, 24, both of Corcoran, California appeared to answer charges of "unlawful possession of small game," a class B misdemeanor; "possession of illegally taken deer", a class A misdemeanor and "carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle," also a class B misdemeanor. Both defendants waived rights to counsel and pleaded guilty on all three counts. On the charge of "possession of illegally taken deer" the defendants were sentenced to one year in jail and a fine of $1,000 each. On the charges of "unlawful possession of small game and carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle" both offenses brought a jail term of six months each and a fine of $299 each. Tervort ordered that jail sentences run concurrent but stayed all jail time except 30 days. The fines imposed, totaling $1,598 were also stayed except for $650 for each individual. Both men were also ordered by the court to make restitution for the deer taken in the amount of $350 each. |
