Show Group Airs Problems i To Gov. Matheson ESCALANTE - A barrage of questions awaited Governor Scott Matheson as he met with Concerned Citizens of Escalante and other civic leaders during his recent visit to Garfield County, The governor, his wife, Norma, and several staff members arrived at the Escalante airport Saturday morning, after a flight from Panguitch where they had spent the previous night. Met at the airport by a delegation which included, among others, GArfleld County Com missioner, Dell LeFevre and Escalante Mayor Dale Marsh, the group was then escorted to Escalante City Park by Highway Patrol troopers and Garfield County-deputy Sheriff, Don Mosier. The governor and his staff mingled and shook hands with some 60 urea residents in attendance at a breakfast planned and executed by members of the Escalante Riding Club. Following the break fast, Mayor Marsh opened the question and answer period by introducing Wally Woolsey, spokesman for Concerned Citizens of Escalante. Mr. Woolsey stated that the organization he represented had summarized their concerns into eight specific questions. The questions addressed primarily the proposed wilderness restrictions in the area, the vast untapped mineral resources and the potential for recreational growth |
