Show Yardley Will Head County Republicans At their county convention held May 23, Garfield County Repoublicans elected James F. Yardley to the office of county chairman for a two year term. To assist Mr. Yardley in directing county politics for the Republicans, Elaine Baldwin was anmed vice chairman and Russell Mahan as secretary treasurer. Following the elections of the county officers, several items were discussed. It was decided that the items needing immediate attention are the proposed cuts in grazing by the BLM in the Escalante-Boulder area, and the development of the coal resources in the county. The convention delegates went on record as unanimously opposing any further cuts in grazing anywhere in the area and a resolution to this effect will be drafted and sent to all legislators and congressmen. All citizens were encouraged to write to their congressmen urging them to oppose these cuts. |
