Griffin has been responsible for fire control in area. Griffin Retires From Government Service ESCALANTE Delane Griffin, has retired as a Range Technician responsible for fire control in the Bureau of Land Management's Escalante Resource area. In appreciation for the 20 years service with the government, he was presented a certificate of appreciation by Craig K. Zufelt area manager. Griffin started with the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in the Zion Canyon-Bryce Canyon areas He served in the army for three years, stationed in Panama part of the time Later he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Escalante for three summers and then in 1954 began working for the Bureau of Land Management cadastral survey crew. He worked in Nevada, Arizona and Utah as a surveyor until 1MB when he returned to live in Escalante. The last eight summers he has worked as a range technician responsible for fire control in the BLM's Escalante Resource Area. |
