Show Concern Voiced Over Parking Near Schools i Panguitch High School Principal Alden Black was at the last Panguitch City council meeting to discuss his concern about the parking along the south side of Center Street in front of the high school and the middle school. He would like to have that area marked as no parking and have the students use the parking lot which will be blacktopped. It will be necessary for Panguitch City to write to Howard Richardsen. of the Utah Department of Transportation giving their approval for this section to be designated as no parking from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city agreed to give their approval but expressed concern about parking along the north side of the road. Black also voiced his concern for support from the city officials and people in the community to enforce the laws concerning the alcohol and tobacco problem He said he feels he can enforce it at school but would need help with the enforcement at other public places. Karl Kler discussed the care of the race track. It was the feeling of the council that since they have control of the track they would be willing to help furnish what is needed to improve it but they will not be responsible for keeping it in shape for the different organizations that use it. It was suggested that Kler go to the Lion's club and see if they will work with him to get it in shape. Kler also brought up the information concerning the possibility of the installation of a sprinkler system using West Panguitch Irrigation water. The council stated it eh system goes in it would use the West Panguitch Irrigation water. Henry Jolley approached city manager, Bruce Fullmer stating since he was going to have the parking in front of the gym blacktopped would the city be interested in going ahead and blacktopping the rest of the area out to the existing street. They decided to perma prime it in a year but not use any hot mix. It wa3 decided the councilman Jon Torgerson will represent the city at the Panguitch Hatch Community School Council. The council agreed to use the city equipment to bring the road in front of the stake center up to grade, but at the time they do not feel they can blacktop it. The council wants to hold the final payment on the swimming pool until it is completely finished. |
