Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey If you missed the Chit Chat last week it was because it is difficult to write Escalante news from Boise. Idaho ReNae and Sherman Bundrant took me home with them and the bus brought me as far as Provo where l,aVee and Steve Wise om be met me and we came to Blue Spruce for the Haws family reunion. The Jim Alveys were all ready camped there and Jim run an am bulance to bring the ailing to town. Other Haws relatives joined us for the weekend so most families were represented. Arnold Alvey fell from a rolling step and cracked what he lit on. The weather is extremely hot days but cools off before morning; we got one short shower. Klyn, Terrill and Marlene Haws went to Prescott, Ariz, to see Dee and Elda Haws. Dee spent several days in the hospital there but is out doing part of his usual work. The Stan Haycocks had daughter Janis home, also son Doug and his kids Verl and Maxine Shurtz and Elaine Bailey, Valerie Huntington and kids visited at the Hal Shurtz home The Reynolds brothers, Tony and Tom brought their kids and visited former friends and relatives here. Wayne and lone Barney are home after being gone five weeks; they drove to PanguitchLake where Joan and Joe Semones have a cabin. They spent several nights there then accompanied the Semones to Phoenix. Another son-in-law, George Ikaard of Birmingham, Ala had a heart attack and was hospitalized three weeks. When he got home the Barneys went there where the Ikaard family gathered for a reunion One came from Central America and another from Hawaii. Jill Smith had them to her home in Arizona to celebrate Ione's birthday anniversary. They came home to find things in fine shape as SheriListon had cared for their yards. Their neigh bors, the Lester Men dales are home after taking a Mediteranean cruise The Mollin Brothers had their place in charge. The Orland Porters had Marvin, Gloria and family, Renee and Boyd Owens and family home for vacation. The Porters, along with Gail and Donna Bailey, calron and Ruby Griffin, Ed and Veda Mitchell are home after a 10-day tour of 1 ake Louise in Canada. Glacier National Park in Montana. Yellowstone Park and the Virginia City earthquake area. Gail and Donna Stayed in Shelby, Mont to visit her friends and relatives, that is her home town. Idella Imaly spent three weeks in Aztec, N.M. visiting Francis and Barbara and family. For her birthday anniversary they took her on a scenic tour seeing the home of Kit Carson and other places of interest. They brought her home over the weekend Helen Shurtz is in Wyoming caring for daughter Sara Cowles who is recovering from surgery. Susan Wilson and son Lenza took her there. Hilda Roundy had son Vernon and boys here from Monroe. Arnold and Deaon Alvey spent a weekend in Loa with Jane en and Brad Duncan. The Alveys had Raylene home from Richfield. She brought Jill Haws with her Dennis Lott spent his days off here and dean Gledhill went back to Alaska to work with him Almeda and Gordan Haycock took Vera Davis to Provo to attend the funeral services of her brother, Lorln Cottam who had been ill tor some time. The Sharon Dale Marshes had a visit from her parents, Max and Evelyn Heap of Cedar City. Morris and Neta Shirts went to St george for the temple wedding of granddaughter Andres Shurtz who exchanged vows with Rick Neitaon of Richfield The Shirts couple had her sister Emma Bleak and granddaughter Toni from St. George and Emma's son Dick and family from California. Lynn Gates took his mother, Dema back home to St. George, she came for the 24th and stayed. Twila Mclnelly has a start on her kids for the reunion, Mary dAvis, Grena Searle and Chan and Betty, the present number of kids is 14, and five more families to come. Daniel and Orilla Cowles drove to Richfield and son Newell took them to Salt Lake City and put them on the plane for Portland, Ore. where son Leon met them and took them to Ellensburg, Wash and stayed overnight. Emma Lou joined them for a five-day tow of Canada seeing the glaciers and learning history of the country. They came home the same route having been gone 14 days and traveled over 7,000 miles. While in Washington they attended the two-hour show "Saturday's Warrior". Ada Nordell and Jennie Turnbaugh of Dixie came to Tropic and took Dorma Barton away from her laundry and came to my house with food which they shared with me then all of us including Ada's dog went to Boulder sightseeing Erma Gates had 25 at her house for the 24th so she really needed a vacation so she accompanied Bruce and Kathy Pickett for the tour of Boulder, Capitol Reef. Burr trail and Wayne Wodnerland going by way of Puffer Lake and Beaver, finally winding up in Santa Clara and after two-weeks came home with Ann and Val Haws who came for the reunion. Minnie Davis and Bonnie Smith picked up Leda Mae Foster and son Neal for a trip to Provo where some of them had their heads examined. LaRae and dave Williams of Panguitch flew in here with some fellow looking for real estate. Wilmer Baker took his mother, Laura North for eye surgery Laurels girls came and stayed with Reeves until her return. Earl and Nethella Woolsey had business in Cedar City. Visitors at the Ivan Willis home were Donald and Elaine Henderson of Littleton, Colo., Wayne and Elsie Henderson of I,aguna Hills, Calif. The Willis family had a reunion on Beaver Mountain, all five kids were there and all except two of the grandkids. There were 24 in at tendance and it was the first time in 8 years they were together. Verge and Shirley Spencer, daughter Tammy and neighbor Joyce Coleman took daughter Dotty back to American Fork and went on into Wyoming to visit Marion and Peggy and family. To camp out is delightful but painfully we learn there are some awful side effects, mosquito bites and sunburn. |
