Show Religious Broadcast Ban Attempt Being Opposed A woman who convinced the U. S. Supreme Court to ban prayer from the public schools - is now trying to ban religious programs from television and radio, and south-central Utah residents are being asked to do something about it. The woman, Madalyn Murray O'Hair, has now been granted a hearing before the FCC and is moving to eliminate all religious broadcasts. She has also demanded that the astronauts be publicly censored for reading the Bible while orbiting the moon. As a direct result of Mrs. O'Halr'i success in making it illegal to pray in schools, the Pledge of Allegiance is no longer recited in the schools, because the phrase "Under Cod" makes it illegal. The Panguitch-Hatch PTA Officers are canvasing the town with petitions to be signed urging opposition by the FCC and the Supreme Court. There is also a petition placed in the Southern Utah Equitable. If you have not signed oni of these petitions and would like to do so please contact one of the PTA Officers as soon as possible. "We also urge each family to write Individual letters addressed to. 'The Federal Communications Commission, Washington D.C., 20554," Margaret Harding, president of the local PTA said She also urged that there is a need to convince the FCC that Americans are tired of such actions and attempts at taking away freedoms. |
