Show Christmas Tree Tags For Personal Use Available Christmas tree tags for personal use will be sold on Dixie National Forest, on both the Escalante Ranger District and the Cedar City Ranger District. The Escalante District will be selling tree tags for personal use from now until December 24. Tags may be purchased from the Escalante District Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Tags will be sold In Antimony for one day only at the Antimony Post Office November 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $1.00 per tag and is only for Christmas trees to be cut on National Forest land encompassed by the Escalante Ranger District. Trees may not be cut within ISO feet of Forest roads or streams. All species except blue spruce may be cut for Christmas trees. The Escalante Ranger District has only small stands of blue spruce occurring along North Creek and Pine Creek. Individuals may cut their own Christmas trees on the Cedar City Ranger District, according to Districct Ranger Rollo Brunson. Permits will be available at the cutting area the weekends of November 27 and 28, December 4 and S, and December 11 and 12; between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Trees are limited to one per family at a cost of $1.00. The cutting area is located at the Junction of the Cedar Breaks road U-53 and Highway U-14 at Midway. The krea lies east of U-SS and north of U-14 and is readily accessible by foot. It is required that all Christmas trees taken from the National Forest be cut from designated area and that they are tagged prior to leaving the area. Information concerning the Christmas trees may be obtained from the Forest Officer at the cutting area or the District Ranger Office at 82 North 100 East, Cedar City, Utah. Phone 586-4462. |
