Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair 674-2311 A stork shower for Alice McGowan was held in the Relief Society room. Hostesses were Claudia Niemann and Maureen Mangum. The Relief Society officeis and teachers attended a stake leadership meeting in Escalante. Evan Chynoweth, Earl Jolley and Bud Mecham chaperoned members of Evan's Sunday School class when they attended a baptismal service in the St. George LDS temple. Students from Southern Utah State College will present the musical "Hello Dolly" in the high school gym on Thursday, Dec. 5th at 7:30 p.m. The annual FHA Christmas party will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4th in the Home Econ. room. All members and their mothers will be invited. DelRae Pollock attended the wedding for her nephew in the Manti LDS temple. Marian Shakespear made a trip to Provo. A ward dinner honoring the prospective missionaries will be held this coming week. Mr. and Mrs. Afton Pollock attended funeral services for a relative in St. George. Hilda Gardner and Verl Mathews were in Tropic meeting with Ella Adair, chairman of the bi-centennial committee, and MonDell Syrett and Reed LeFevre, of the town board, working out plans for the prospective town park, to be started in the very near future. Larry Adair was in Salt Lake City on business. Nakole, Alaska and Paula, Richards went to Cedar City. Gail and Larry Cloward and family visited with the Ureel Otts. Mr. and Mrs. Cray Pollock, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Pollock, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pollock and Janice Pollock visited at the Herman Pollock home. The Herman Pollock family presented the program in sacrament meeting. The program in sacrament meeting next Sunday will be presented by the Alton Shakespear family. The Carl Syretts attended the wedding of Sharron Bybee and Chris White, in the St. George LDS Temple, then went on to Thatcher for the wedding of Sharrie LeFevre, then went to Salt Lake City and moved their daughter and husband, Shaunna and Blaine Anderson and family to Rubys Inn. Mr. and Mrs. Danna Andrus and children, Jeanette Sawyer and son, visited with the Alton Shakespears. Dorma and Arlene Barton, and Burton Cox were in Tropic over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Roundy and sister-in-law were in Tropic visiting with the Herman Pollocks. Dennis Wintch was home for the weekend helping cut wood. Herman Pollock has been released as a Sunday School teacher and Max Stewart as the Special Activity Chairman. Max was sustained as the Priests Quorum advisor and Vernal Mecham as a Sunday School teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Chris White visited with the Clive Bybees. Robyn Francisco visited with her parents the Charley Franciscos. Our high school basketball team won both of their preseason games. We hope they can keep up the good work. |
