Wayne Button Is on crutches favoring an Injured ankle. Blalre Porter was battered, bruised and bleeding when his horse fell and dragged him across the oiled road. His father, Que took him to Panguitch to have him patched up. Andrew and Isabel! Spencer have been down again but are feeling better. Since this hepatitis deal if anyone feels poorly, they keep looking in the mirror to see if he or she is turning yellow. Arnold Alvey is still in the Panguitch Hospital under oxygen but he is improving. Zella spends considerable time with htm, sometimes traveling with folks going anyway and when she doesn't get a ride she drives. Cherie Beebe Is home after spending several days in the Panguitch Hospital. , John and Yukon Norman and girls went north to visit DeLynn who is still in the hospital. Marie Hall is home after spending the winter with family members. She had Ula Jean McCurdy and kids here from Panguitch for Mother's Day. Rex and Eva Allen went to California to give moral support to daughter Helen Luce who was having surgery for the second time. She came through it ok. They got home to resume their daily chores and Rex got severe chest pains so Eva called their kids to meet them and she took him to a doctor. Rex is in the Richfield hospital with pneumonia. Ruth Alvey was lost and her family were really worried. Her car was home, her house locked and a light on in one room so they broke in expecting to find her sick or dead but she was not there. They Anally located her and she was in good hands. She left town with Alfred Chiono who had business In Richfield and Salt Lake City. Donald and Darlene Griffin and daughter Dianne spent the weekend in Phoenix, Ariz, with relatives. The Senior class went on their customary trip to California on a chartered Greyhound bus. Robert and Louise Llston, Jerry Lawrence and Ardis Christensen went as chaperones. They visited Disneyland, NBXC studios and other places of interest Enroute home they spent one day in Las Vegas. They all agreed it was an enjoyable time. Wayne and lone Barney went to Virginia to visit Jean and George Ikaard. Mayo and Louise Roundy visited in Richfield and brought their grandson home with them. Iris- Porter had her sister Leda Emery and some of her family here from Salt Lake City. Saturday, May 10 was a successful stake farm day with the cattle shed being repaired, sprinkler system started, plowing, harrowing, headgate replacement under the direction of Doyle Cottam, manager, assisted by priesthood quorum members from the Ave wards. Stake work will continue through the week on the planting and repairing sheds and corrals, Escalante Utah Stake Priesthood leaders meeting was held Sunday morning at 7:15 a.m. at the stake center and leaders were instructed via type by President Kimball on helping fathers put their houses in order. Leaders throughout the stake were in attendance. Nell Barker went back to St. George to her doctor. She took Nellie Bailey and Twils Nclnelly to Cedar City. Twila spent Mother's Day with Mike and Grene Searle and family and some of Nellie's grandkids took her to Las Vegas to board a plane and fly to Memphis, Tenn. to visit Calvin and Martha Rae Schow and family. Beumont and Verda Griffin traveled behind Nell and friends to make sure she made it. The Griffins visited relatives in Hurricane. Had a letter from Wanda Hansen in Kennewick, Wash. She works in a hospital there and had met a former Escalante resident. Montez Baker Neilson who lives in Othello, Wash, came to the hospital for tests. She asked about folks here. Leah Griffin took Dicey Coombs to Cedar City for the golden wedding celebration of Arden and Ruby Woolsey. Others having business in Cedar City were Marlene Haws, Geraldine Liston, Mary Kazan and Steven Steed. Norma Leming went to Salt Lake City for the funeral services . of her mother who has been ill for some time. The Lloyd Alveys had a visit from Kathy Goulding and family and Elise Ott. Nelda Munson took daughter Maureen to Provo to make final preparations for a survival trip. Wallace Roundy had a pleasant Mother's Day surpirse: He got word that he had won a colored television and was to pick it up at Munson's Store. Usher and Eva Spencer had grandson, Bruce Cottam and family here from Provo. Jim Alvey and Beth Liston were home for the weekend. Jim took Lola and boys back with him and Beth stayed for the funeral. Max Heap came from Cedar City and took his wife Evelyn home. Dale and Thelma Marsh joined the other county com missioners for a meeting in Richfield. |
