Show Escalante Homecoming Celebration 'Success' ESCALANTE - Saturday, the annual March homecoming celebration was held in Escalante, with a ham dinner opening the festivities. The theme was depicted by the table decorations of fresh daffodils and shamrocks. Chairmen of the food committee were Mr. and Mrs. James Mclnelly assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Dan Baird, Mr. and Mrs. Jim MacKelvey, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Shurtz, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Spencer, Deland Griffin and Kathy Adair. The program consisted of a song and dance number by Greg Vidrine, Jay Gibson and Dan and Aaron Johnson. A corsage was presented to Sariah Alvey for having the longest membership in the Relief Society in the area, This was presented by Minnie Davis. Fred Wilson emceed the program around the theme of the nation's bicentennial. Mrs. Thelma Cottam and Mrs. Areola Gates were co-chairwomen of the program. The Relief Society chorus provided the music with assisatnee from Dawn Griffin and Areola Gates playing an organ and piano duet. Vard Coombs impersonated Abraham Lincoln and gave the Gettysburg Address. The dance capped the activities that evening. |
