Show SOCIAL ITEMS m OF THE WEEK one of the large social functions of athe the season was held saturday afternoon at the commercial club rooms when the ladies civic improvement club celebrated its nineteenth birthday anniversary which was organized in this city march 22 1906 A color scheme of green and white was artistically carried out in the reception rooms menu etc As each each lady en berred the hall she was presented a green and white lace paper marcell cap which was worn during the entire afternoon A splendid program was rendered as follows community singing led by mrs loroy leroy B young a clever cross word puzzle comp composed d by mrs T L davis time ot of solution ten minutes prize of 0 a dainty green and white silk handkerchief awarded to mrs vosco call followed by community singing numbers were i drawn and all seated at the banquet tables where a delicious three course luncheon was served with covers laid tor eighty guests by the ladies aid society each table was centered with low black bowls of white sweet peas holding green lighted candles with unique favors of miniature birthday cakes holding tiny green rose buds with candles mrs W L hoist gave a toast to tue the charter members following luncheon mrs airs R P forsgren entertained with the solo it winter comes accompanied by mrs eddis watkins and limericks were indulged in with repartees rep artees by mesdames Ales dames D B baron C H bryan and C R smith A special feature of the program included a most beautiful and interesting dress review of the presidents of oc th the club from its first organization up to the present time with mrs nets nels jenson first president of the club and mrs frank holman the present president introduced by clever rhymes by mrs wm win S fife telling what each president had accomplished during her term ot of office following the program a social afternoon was enjoyed the following ladies were in charge of the various committees mrs airs H H R chairman of general arrangement committee with mrs airs R J timms and mrs TV S file fife assisting invitation and finance mrs airs john burt linen mrs airs berr ben abramson tables mrs mack alack fishburn Fis hourn liburn and mrs airs claude liver mrs airs den ben knudson and mrs max fishburn and program mrs airs leroy B young and mrs clyde stratford mrs fred entertained at her home last evening complimentary to her son ferd the event being in honor of his iotti birthday anniversary the rooms were abed in easter designs and were carried out in the menu progressive games were the features of the evening and later a delicious tray luncheon was served to twenty five guests A reorganization of 0 the sego lily camp of the daughters of the pioneers will take place at the home of mrs airs rae valentine thursday evening march A business session will be held at 7 p m followed by a social at S 8 p in to which all are invited who care to attend A splendid program has been arranged and a good time is assured the ogden symphony girls orchestra which played at the academy of 0 music alusic last Satur saturday dar night was one of the best that has ever played in this city their costumes were pretty and unique and they brought with them tine fine electrical colored light fixtures for the moonlight waltzes which pleased the dancers very much mr and mrs J H howarth of sal lake city announce the engagement ol of their daughter mary alice to royle L jensen of brigham city the marriage will talce take place tomorrow in the salt lake temple t the locust camp of 0 the daughters of the pioneers will meet friday at 3 p m at the home ot of mrs minnie kotter the sea gull camp ot of the daughters ot of the pioneers will meet friday at p in at the home hoine ot of mrs jos N stohl the oak camp of the daughters of the plo pioneers will meet thursday evening at at the home 0 of mrs S C wixom all members are urged to be preg present int the deseret camp of the daughters ot of the pioneers will meet friday at p in at the home of mrs airs H M figgins |
