news in reading the columns 0 of the news I 1 have been interested in letters and articles from missionaries and thought that the circumstances under which I 1 have been laboring the past few months might be of 0 interest to several families of brigham city for missionaries in a a foreign land to meet old friends and neighbors from rom their own home borne town Is one of the most enjoyable incidents ot of their missionary experiences we find however the elders laboring at northampton england birmingham conference enjoying just such a coincidence and experience elders leland na N wight and ellis leon rees i both of brigham city and former school mates ot of box elder high school have had the good fortune of laboring together you can well imagine our surprise upon answering a knock at our door to find there another dear friend an and d citizen from brigham city mr joseph langhorn although n not ot a me member anber of our church you can well imagine the happy conversation that followed mr air langhorn who for thirty years was a prominent citizen of 0 northampton migrated to brigham city fifteen years ago his first place of residence tor for sometime was next door neighbor vps was a strong temperance man and was very popular among the prominent men of the town immediately mr langhorn took it upon himself to show us an interesting time during his stay in england the enjoyable introductions and meetings ot of many new friends made it possible tor for us to become acquainted with people whom we otherwise would not have had the opportunity of associating with together with friends of mr lang horns we visited several places ot of great interest especially to americans an entire day was spent at sulgrave manor formerly the estate of george ancestors and now belonging to america the home as it was over tour four centuries ago Is still in a good state ol of preservation it is a memorial now and only last summer was dedicated to america by ex president tatt taft the old coats ot of arms of three stars and three bars as they were originally are there today little did those people realize that many years later there would originate from that coat ot of arms a hag flag to wave over the greatest nation in the world we made a special visit to brink ton the home of the before they emigrated to the new world it was very interesting to tread upon the same ground and handle articles w which are now only memories of those who were destined to play their part in the history of america in tile the heart of warwickshire Warwick shire 30 miles iles northwest ot of northampton lies iles a haven to american tourists strat tord ford on avon the birthplace ot of sha shakespeare ek I jere here are found treasures of antiques formerly belonging to the great writer 1 in Shake home we went from room to room handling the same articles sitting in the same chairs that shakespeare himself used one thing and then another another kept our interest at a keen edge every minute the parish jarish church where ho now lies iles buried the shakespeare memorial theatre where once each year the plays of shakespeare are reproduced these trips and visits were intensely interesting to us not only because of their historical connections with america but it also afforded us excellent opportunity unity to meet new people and spread the message of the gospel which we have for them mr air Lang langhorn born and his friends seemed never tiring in their efforts to make our stay while we were laboring in northampton most enjoyable at v continued continued on page two the presence prea ence ot of two members ot of the much maligned people who live in utah they were very glad to know through mr langhorn that the slanderous remarks that were published and said ot of the people were all untrue tru e and that in the future we were welcome and counted among their friends elder rees and I 1 were called upon to speak and tell them about the people at home many invitations were extended to us and they all ex pressed themselves that in the future their opinion of the latter day saints saint would be of the highest type I 1 feel that we owe a great deal to sir
