Show Two Democrats, One Republican Win In j PanguHch, "Citizens" Win In Escalante In exceptionally heavy voting for an off-year election Panguitch citizens cast 490 ballots In the municipal election November 6th. In normally Republican Pan-gulch, two Democrats got the nod, Dr. Wallact P. Lee winning for Mayor and Arthur G. Crosby taking one of the council spots. The other council position went to Republican Charles M. Allen. Total vote was, for Mayor, Lee 325; Earl Roe, 165. For City Council, Republicans Charles M. Allen 230, M- K. Heywood 214; Democrats Arthur Crosby, 300; Wayne Holman, 225. In Escalante the Citizens party, headed by William ' Mohr Christensen, won handily. Tallies being Christensen 204 to Elmer Smith's 39; for 4 Trustees, Citizens Danny Reid 170 and Everett Williams 215, against Leah Griffin's 74 and Randal Lyman's 27. In Hatch, Karl Lowder tallied 55 for town board president against 0 for Garth Heap; for trustees Mcrvin Barnhurst 39, Bill Duckett 49, Nile Sawyer 26, Bruce Dalton 0. (note: Heap and Dalton, because of holding State jobs, had to with draw too late to have their names taken from the ballot) Boulder gave John Meisen-bach 31 votes for town board president. For 2 trustees, Anthony Coomb? 40. Jimmy Pet-, crson 32, Lcland Haws 23 and John Wingficld 9. The other county towns failed to report their returns. |
