Ine people selected to work on this committee, are Mary Henrie, Lenora LeFevre, Neth-ella Woolsey, Virginia Smith, Laurie Ilolley, Ella Adair, Eff el Rlggs, Valerie King, and Hilda Gardner. Mrs. Gardner will represent Garfield County on the Five County Bi Cenennial Board. It is hoped that the citizens of the county will contact their representative and make suggestions as to their desires. Also offer help in making our nation's birthday a stimulating and rewarding experience. Projects discussed at the first meeting were the county hospital, Escalante's centennial that same year, publishing a history book on second fifty years of progress in the county, clean-up campaigns and festivals. Attend 4-H Conference Jana Gillies and Janet Dodds of Pangultch, aciompanicd by Extension agent Catherine Barney, attended the recent Community Pride Conference at Salt Lake. The 4-H'ers discussed beautlfication projects they were doing in their home communities, ranging from mailing litter back to persons yho tossed it away to putting planter boxes on Main Street. The two-day conference climaxed with an awards luncheon at which six 4-H'ers, three leaders and three students received plaques for their com-unlty pride projects. One of these awards went to Marjorle Specner of Escalante. |
