Show Merle Heywood Retires As Teacher Thirty-one years ago with six years of college training and eleven years of teaching cxper lence, Merle Heywood became an elementary supervisor In Piute and Garfield counties. At that timo she wished to earn enough money to complete requirements to teach English In college as she had been advised to do. She felt that teacher Influence could be greater at the crucial college level. Since then, without application, she has had opportunities to teach in the B.Y.U. and AC Universities. Due to the cattle business of. her husband, E. True Heywood, she has continued to teach in Pangultch for thirty years. She has served In every age group from kindergarten to adult in fortyone years of total experience. She says that nowhere In the world are there more Intelligent, talented students or parents with more cooperative concern for their children's welfare. Mr. Heywood says she has been so involved with the fascinating learning process that he rhould have paid the district for the privilege of teaching. There is some truth in this. But at all times she welcomed the special bonus of Sky, mountains, and true beauty of Pangultch with Its kind, friendly people. She and True bid a fond farewell and tako the country road to their families in Salt Lake City. |
