Show Propose County Bull Frog Tour Road Commissioner Reports At a meeting with the Escal ante Chamber of Commerce as well as other interested persons, including some from Boulder, Clem Church, Utah Stat Road Commissioner, informed them that Frank K. Richards, road committee chairman of the I'anguitch Chamber of Commerce has propos ed a county-wide trek and cookout at Bull Frog recreation area. The trip would be made in October at which time the road would be in condl tion for auto to travel it comfortably It should take no more than two and a half hours to go from Boulder to Bull Frog. The road trip from Pangultch can easily be accomplished in one day. Some may wish to camp overnight, to enjoy the scenery along the way and fish in Lake Powell. The Escalante Chamber of Commerce feels that this would be a good idea and would help to promote travel in the eastern end of the county Mr Church discussed the various aspects of road tin an cing. of progress and prospects lor roads leading into eastern Garfield County. Concerning the prospect of a road from Hole-ln-The-Rock to Bull Frog basin, which might form the beginning of a National Parkway, he said that the road, which now is only in the preliminary planning stage, did not in any way rival the main route through the county. The road would go through Boulder and connect with U-96 and go on to Colorado and also bridge across Big Thompson at Bull Frog, is being financed by State and County funds, some of which came this year from Federal Economic Development money. In top priority for State secondary road funds U Uie Motion down the rocks just west of Boulder, Mr. Church indicated. Of the part of U-54 from Boulder to Grover, there is no prospect at the present except for gradual improvements by regular state crews. Considerable work will be done soon on the north end of the mountain road. Work on the south is being delayed for want of gravel. |
