Show Mud To Go - Oil All The Way To Boulder Planned For 1971 One remsining 3.8 mile section of dirt rosd (Highway 84) lies between the residents of Boulder snd the rest of the paved highway world. In a public hearing held In Boulder, Clem Church, chair man of the Utah State Road Commission, announced plans to replace this section of dirt road with s two-lane bituminous surface highway. "The estimated cost of this project is approximately $420,000," ssid Commissioner Church. "The Improvement will be advertised to contract in fiscal 1971." He also said the project would be completed hopefully during one construction season. Rumor hsd it that this plan has been moved back a year. That was traced down and found to be not based on fact. A letter written by Chairman Church to Obe Wright, Boulder Town Board President, spells it out: His letter says In part: "There must have been some misunderstanding from someone. The project has definitely not been deferred. The money will become available for fiscal year 1971; that is after July i, 1970. "We plan to advertise this nrninr. "The County Com missioners have worked very closely with the State Road Commission on roads In this area, not only this road, but other roads. We feel like now we are coming to a point where the Boulder people are going to be greatly benefitted." Track Star Hart ha Fall Richard Dtx, a star of the Panguitch High School track team In the mile and middle distance runs, suffered a fall at Orderville where he was with the team for the track meet. Richard is now in the Panguitch hospital with a possible broken bone in his lower back |
