Show Henrieville News Items MF.LRA D SMITH At the flrtl of the week Minnie Smith had Marion Clark and children of Page visit her Then Mrs Thayne Smith and daughter Ty and ion Eric of Loa Angel.-s visited with her Ty, her granddaughter, was on her way to Holbrook. Arizona to spend a month with the Bill Synders. Nedra Swapp, her daughter, is here from Silver City, New Mexico visiting her for a few days. Virginia Smith, her daughter Janet and husband Guy Evans and their daughters Joyce and Oenice attended a Hardy reunion in Springy ille Canyon on July 26th Marilyn and husband Dr. BUI Christensen and children spent July 24th in town. The Dar Smith family stopped here on their way to Colorado and New Mexico on their vaction; they visited his mother, Mrs Virginia Smith. I received word from Kenneth G. Wlckham. Major General USA the Ad J u rant General, that my ton Jim F. Jennings was posthumously promoted to the grade of Sergeant. Birthdays this week are Mary Elizabeth Elmer, Eugene Randy Quitter and Cloyd Neil-aon. Anniversary is Steven and Kathleen Gouldlng. Lawrence Chynoweth stayed overnight here, he was transporting equipment for the construction company that he works for. Eugene Quitter takes the school bus of students from here, Cannonvtlle, Tropic and Bryce Canyon to Panguitch to swim each Friday. La Kay Quitter and Melba D. Smith went last Friday to help supervise. The 24th of July celebration started off with children's pa rade at 8 30 am. followed by a program by the families of the ward. Children's races followed, then a food sale, candy, floats, and ice cream were sold to make funds for the Primary We have had a good cherry crop this year Now everyone is busy putting up the apricots that are plentiful this year. We have had some good rain storms to help out. Bernice and Orlo Jensen of Salt Lake visited with her sis ter Thora Partner and family This is Bernlce's first trip to Henrieville. The program In Sacrament meeting Sunday was put on by the workers at Bryce Canyon Branch, under the direction of Neal Johnson and was in commemoration of the 24th of July. Speakers were Charlie Young. Collette Rose and Jay Evans. The chorus sang three patriotic songs. Fawn Gouldlng who is working at Bryce for the summer was with them. Several of our towns people attended funeral services In Panguitch Monday for Frank Richards. The Eldred Asays of Salt Lake and the Verl Asays and son visited relatives here. Sherman snd Dawn Marion A-say and daughter stopped here on their way from Mexico back to Minnesota. Dennis Johnson and fiancee of Salt Lake spent the weekend with his parents, the Ellis Johnsons. Rulon and Fay Ella Prince stopped by Sunday to visit (continue! Also her granddaughter LaJune Willis from Grand Canyon, Arizona ia visiting her. , Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Porter of Payson and the Harmon Shake spears visited with Leland and Berthene Griffin on the 24th. Bill and Sharon Francisco and boys and Sharon's mother visited at the Griffin home. i Some of our rodeo fans at-tended the rodeo at Panguitch on the weekend. Benjamin James Baugh died in the Panguitch hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Baugh visited him each day from her job at Bryce Canyon National Park. Their daughter Velma Palmer and two children Mike and Bll-lie of Ogden are here visiting. The Tillman Woolseys of Provo visited the Jim Smith family and took Dorothy Rae and Jimmie to Pine Lake to fish. Friday Jim, Rae and Barbara Smith and Kim Bushnell joined them for an outing and brought Dorothy and Jim back home. Ruby Moore picked up Man-dy Fletcher at Cannonville and went to Junction Saturday to the funeral for Eugene Gardiner. Layton Moore visited his mother Ruby Moore over the weekend. He brought Sherry Boyle to Escalante to attend the wedding reception of her brother. Franklin and Jerry Kimball and daughter of Kanosh visited with the Elmo Bushnells on Sunday. Also Loyd and Leora Allen of Richfield visited with them. |
