Show Escalante Chit Chat BY FAY ALVEY Snowing again and we all ready had around thirty eight inches, you just would not believe these ricks of snow without seeing them. Folks are still having colds, flu and generally being miserable. The mud is still delaying the oil rigs between here and Boulder. Wish to modify a report made last week; Mo Has Hall did not have his eye removed, he did have surgery removing a bad ulcer but Dr. Chatterly still gives him hope of regaining sight in that eye. He Is home under the care of Marie and they have daughter Ar-lene home for the Spring break. The LaVern Griffins had Jolynn and Elden and wife Amber, the Bill Griffins had son Boyd. Jim Alvey brought Valeree Shurtz and Lois Lis-ton, then Lois took her car back, she visited in Panguitch with her Mother June and Grandmother Dowdell. Jim lives in the same area as Lois, Jackie Ormond and Vergeania Porter. He met and talked with Val Haws, David Ray Shurtz, Lorin and Meletta Cottam, and his landlady is a Reed from Panguitch. Grena Mclnelly came here from Cedar then went north to visit. The Stan Haycocks have son Woodrow, his wife and baby here, he is going into the Service right away. Millard Davis is home and can walk but not too fluently. Von and Emma Forsythe came from Wayne County and took Arden Taylor home with them, he had a date at the Veteran's hospital for examination. Marjle and Thurman Spencer had business in Richfield, so did Slim, so Mother Alvey and I accompanied him, talked to Orson and Maggie Barn-hurst of Hatch. Betty Hill went north, stopped in Provo and took Jo Christensen on to Salt Lake then came home In time for Jo to catch a ride back to Provo for school. Clarice Griffin went to Teas-dale to help sister Grace Baker get ready to celebrate hers and Ralph's 55th wedding anniversary. Judy Kelly had a visit from her mother and took her to various places of interest. Don Kelly flew Ron and Linda Mecham and kids to Cedar City Frank and Delia Imlay are home from Fillmore and say there is snow there but not as much as we have. They had granddaughter Kathy here for the weekend, she and Maur een Pollock of Tropic drove down in Kathy 's Volkbw.igon from Salt Lake where they are attending business college Arnold and Zella Alvey had Gall and Earl Stonehocker and kids of Sandy here for the weekend. Elise Ott of Tropic and Kathy Goulding of Hen-rievUle visited Loyd and Betty Alvey. Thelma Smith and boys of HenrieviUe visited at the Hode Alveys. Caroline Griffin was here for the weekend, she has a new job in Richfield. Renon Reed and two small daughters spent part of the week at the Ott Roundys. Clorene and Bill Vidrine had business in Panguitch, so did Forest Service employees. Mr. and Mrs. Mont Heap of Wyoming were overnight visitors at the Blake Robinson home. Walter Dane had business in Las Vegas. Dee Haws checked with his family members in Salt Lake City and learned that granddaughter Dawnie is still in the University Health center. Kaylon is out of the hospital doing ok. Ammon Barker of HenrieviUe was here telling that he and a friend had been offered 72 cents a head for sheep shearing, tell us where Ammon, and we will all go. In Sacrament meeting Sunday the North ward speakers were Clyde Spencer and Jack Chynoweth. Denise Alvey, Patrice Haws and Brenda Shurtz sang. The South ward had their conference with Pres. Chase Shurtz in charge and representing the officers. Lizzie Porter represented the Stake Relief Society. Retha Shurtz the VI AHA. Jan Goulding the Sunday School, Dixie Shakes-pear the Primary, Lowell Mecham the YMMIA, Malen Mecham the Stake presidency, and Irene Alvey played a piano solo. Morris and Neta Shirts had son Alpine from Cedar City, he needed a bit of relaxation away from It all during the quarter break. The Gail Baileys had son Terrill and faml ly from Cedar City and Gloria and husband Mack Welnkle from California for the weekend. Neal Wooley thought he was to be stationed in California after spending 13 months in Viet Nam, but he got orders to go to Washington, D. C. where he will be stationed and fly on Inspection tours all over the world. Neal is an Aeronautics officer in the Marine headquarters. He was invited to the High School o tell the students about his experiences His wife and family will join him when school is out. Why don't they change elec tion day from the Fall to Spring? Politicians then would have lots of mud to sling. |
