Show Utah Foundation Makes Survey Of County Debt Situation Total long-term general debt, exclusive of utility debt, of all local governmental units in Garfield County at the end of U)62,mounted to $117,000 or approximately $33.43 per capita. This was revealed in an analysis of local government finances in Utah prepared by Utah Foundation, the private tax research organization. Total general expenditures by all local units (county, municipalities, school district, and special districts) in Garfield County amounted to $712,000 in 1962. This included $467,000 for education, $128,000 for roads and streets, $6,000 for health, welfare and hospitals, $22,000 for police and fire protection and $89,000 for all other local governmental functions. The Foundation report shows that the 1962 general expenditures of all local units In Garfield County amounted to $203 per capita, and were equal to approximately 13.99 per cent of total personal income in the county for the year. Statewide, local government expenditures during 1962 averaged $195 per capita, and were equal to about 9.09 per cent of total personal income. |
