We have had such a long dry, spell that about sixty per cent of the moisture has gone out of the water. If you notice the Post Office employees talking with thick tongues do not jump to conclusions, it was caused from licking stamps for Xmas packages. It seems no one is ready for the holiday, we have put in our time getting ready for funerals. 'We have had nine here in the past three months. Myself and daughter Dot, and Morris and Neta Shirts went to St. George for the funeral services of our Aunt Annie Hall, we seen Gordon Stevens, Cliff Reese and Terril Bailey and chatted briefly. Dot and I cams back the pame day but Morris and Neta visited relatives In Enterprise, Cedar and Nevada. The Frank Colemans had (o take their small daughter to Salt Lake to a specialist; Mas Vonn Taylor and Carrie Griffin spent several days in the Panguitch hospital but are back home. Veda Mitchell, Verda Liston and Allie Spencer went for medical checkups. Deon Alvey took her daughter to the doctor with ear trouble, Sariah Alvey and William Mitchell went along for medical check ups. Grace Barney went to Panguitch for dental attention. S:.mmy Spencer, son of Thurman, split his eyebrow and lid, they took him to Dr. Poulsen here who did a neat job of sewing it up. The local lions Club under the leadership of President Paul Steed did a fine job of getting up the Christmas lights; they burned tho midnight oil until eleven o'clock one night and their wives brought them food aad drink. Then to help with the expense they put ou an entertainment where the Lions played the school team in basketball beating them one point. The Mouquette club marched under the direction of Marjle Spencer, and they had boxing among the young-icr boys. A TV set was won by Bill Boll. Talked with William Mitchell after his return from the north and he said while visiting in Morgan he spent some time with Albert Gled-hill whom he said seemed to be as well os usual and just as good company. William's daughter Flora , Marchant and part of her family were here visiting. Blake Roblnsonwent on a business trip so left Gu-rena at Koosharem to visit her mother Rhoda DcLang. Aletha Schow went ta Anna-bella with Elroy. Davis to stay with her daughter, Freda Moosman. John Zenz has lost his voice and if anyone finds it he would appreciate getting it back in time to wish his friends Merry Christmas. The Hode Alveys got word their son-ln,-law Earl Coffmanwas recovering from major surgery. The Robert Listons have a new baby daughter making three girls, they have one bo;, The Sox Spencers have a new granddaughter born to Effie Kae and Huston Wright. Mary R. Mclnelly has another great grandson born to Joan Hall. David Ray Shurtz is here with only half his usual crop of whiskers. Vergene Porter and two sons came from Page for the weekend. Melba Gates came from Page and cared for her grandchildren while their mother Mao Vonn Taylor was In the hospital. James and Millie Mclnelly were in town showing off a pink Oldsmobile, their daughter Elma is in the Movie being filmed in Kano county and is having the time of her Hie, sho does crocheting in her spare time and can s;ll it all. Dave Mclnelly is the only local fellow emlpyedbj the movies now. Loyd Alvej is building his home above the ground. Joe Lay of Ore (fontiaucd Inside) ' ESCALANTE (continued) gon is here visiting, he-came in time to visit his brother Frank. The D.U.P. held their annual Christmas party in the North ward church, chicken, dinner was served to members and their partners; the December lesson 'was briefed by Fay, Alvey who also acted as M.C. for the program: Ne-ta Pollock and grandson Gary played two accordian duets, Ruth Griffin a retold story, two songs by Wallace Roundy, "reading by Ella Roundy, reading by Nethella Woolsey. Earl Woolsey showed old time pictures of the members and ' the group guessed who they were. Two Porters ran together Saturday night; Russel Porter was coming down Main St. and Rol going up, Roi MM 4 made a turn into the Conoco station and they hit, it damaged both cars but no one was hurt. RusseJ did not make it htre for his mother's funeral services, ha was grounded on account of fog and came a day later, on his 21st birthday anniversary. The Claron Barneys have their daughter home; Carlyn and Everett Williams have moved back here with their trailer. The Alveys, Arnold and Darrel and their wives, and iMelba and Gaden Gates went to the Pines Saturday to a Garkane Christmas party. The State Road workers here went to Panguitch Friday to a Safety meeting. Arnold and Darrel Alvey were there the samei day connecting an electric pump for Jim Peterson. In Sunday Sacrament meeting the South ward had Florence Alvey, Gwen Lyman and Lea Griffin as speakers; the North had Delmer Cottam and Vernon Spencer, the High School chorus sang two numbers under the direction of Mr. Ashmore, he is to be complimented on the fine job he has done in training these young people, shows that he really knows his music, they also sang in Boulder Sunday. The North ward had baptismal services baptizing and confirming Greg Christen-sen, son of Norman; Lane Stowe, son of Vernon, Brad Liston, son of Stan, and Dan ny Pratt, son of Parley, Myron Cottam and Stanley Stowe were advanced in the Priesthood.
