Show communication brigham city oct 6 1921 editor news it was with deep interest that I 1 read I 1 our worthy governors suggestion in your valuable paper of 0 sept with respect to the times we are passing through he speaks of the unemployed ot of which there Is a great many la in our fair calr city at the present time first he says people are considering their expenses which Is quite right under present circumstances and those who have capital have to to be careful where they invest second he says wherever an industry Is running tor for twelve or eighteen or twenty four hour shifts they should be divided so that it would give employment to the greatest number now sir this Is the point our sugar factory has started with 12 hour shifts instead ot of 8 hour shifts which we run last year I 1 understand that our state law says that a man shall not be employed more than eight hours per day wh which ach I 1 contend is long enough I 1 tor for any man mail to work then lie he Is away front from home nine hours at least it if our state law says eight hours why should certain factories or private corporations po rations be allowed to break that law and throw about eighty men luen out 0 ot work under these trying circumstances wo we are passing through at tile the present time I 1 think now would be an all excellent time tor for our worthy governor to see this law Is enforced that more men could be employed yours truly A TAX PAYER |
