Show CLUB RICE IVES t CHARTER at a 1 meeting wednesday evening which for or pure fun good humor and a 3 perfect setting was about the last word in social entertainment the city rotary club received its it charter at the hands of 0 joy 11 johnson of salt lake representing the district governor tile the function was held in the commercial club rooms and aside from the delivery ot of the charter the feature was a banquet served by the ladles ladies aid society which did as much or perhaps more toward making the evening the success that it was as any other number on the program tallies tables were set in the form of a hollow square with the end table extending along the north side of 0 the assembly room and covers were laid tor for upwards ot of a hundred persons president harold C day of the local club welcomed the visiting rotarians Rot arlana tans who came from salt lake ogden and logan and then intro ducted mayor john W peters as toastmaster of the evening mr peters called tor for an informal introduction of each rotarian present by asking him to stand announce his name and residence his business and the name by which lie be goes following this tile the diners attacked tacked the viands set before them with a vengeance and the menu consisted of 0 fruit cocktail roast teal duck with dressing tomato relish hot rolls and butter peas in kimbles and the desert there Ther ewas was music galore the company sang rotary songs that fairly made tile the welkin ring and the echo male aisle chorus sang live five numbers the set speeches ot of the evening were delivered by chapin A day 0 of ogdan joy 11 John johnson sU B F redmond royal daynes of salt lake supt bupt K N S hinckley ot of the state industrial du school robert anderson andersen ot of logan and N cris Simo Si mohsen insen af 6 this city the speeches were full ot of wit and humor as well as sentiments outlining the alms ot of rotary the evening was a red letter day tor for the brigham rotary club which is now tully fully equipped to go ahead and function the local club can enroll three now new members each month and no two men of the same profession can belong to the club except in the case ot of the newspapers the object ot of rotary Is to bless humanity by doing good upon every hand and in a business way in speaking well ot of a com instead ot of attacking his character his bis business methods the local club began with a charter membership ot of 15 and the regular monthly quota of three is already waiting to be accepted tor for the current month so tile the spirit of rotary Is taking hold in this community and the promoters ot of the movement expect to bee all those eligible enrolled on the roster ot of the club in due time |
