Show Nethella Is Back Home Again With The Word By Nethella Griffin THE WORD FROM BOULDER No one ever had a finer vacation than I on the Mexi-canrGuatcmalan tour with the Burnett IleTiuryx party. It was a richer and more extensive experience than-' I had expected. .From the flowering tropics to Boulder's heavy snows, however there Is sharp contrast. We have, In fact, more snow hero than I spw in the whole state from St. George to near the northern Utah boundary and back through our neighboring counties. Fields and hillsides are solidly snow-packed and look as If they expect to remain that .way. When I got around to counting noses, I found many folks missing. Upper Boulder is practically deserted. The Burns Ormonds are visiting in Orem. Polv and Margi) Griffin are still in California. Neil and Fay Jeppsen are also In California. Marion and Aleno Jeppson of Escalante are looking after their cows and children except Wyatt who stays with his Aunt Id-ona Haws. Lights are still on at the power plant and at the Griener home although Mrs. Griener has gone for a short visit to Logan, .long enough to see the ball same with her son and nephew and to get the nnow banks out of her eyes. There is an occasional light at Kirk Lyman's, though he is generally too busy digging cattle out of the snow to spend time indoors. Clyde and Irene King returned from their trip to Dallas, Texas, where they attended the national cattlemen's convention. Then they hurried away to Phoenix where they reportedly have bought motel property. Evidently this is a move toward escaping cold weather permanently. At present they are in Los Angeles where three of their daughters are living. Lcnora teFevre has bee. in Salt Lake looking after her. husband's mother, Mrs. Will R. LeFevre who is 111. lienors, however, has taken a part . t .T. .s time Job, and says is staying until May. We hope Lenora will not become one of our loss of population statistics. E. II. Coombs is in Salt Lake this week attending to business and other matters. Bishop Leland Haws and Emeron Peterson took a group of Aaronic priesthood boys to Provo Friday to see the BYU-Montana game and tour the campus cf the University. Val Jean Haws took some of the boys Jn his car. Others who made the trip were Gary Wayne Haws, Elvon Poulsen, Marvin ,Baker, Wesley Baker, Wayne Baker, Jimmy Peterson, Paul Hansen, Neil Henry Jeppsen, and Reeves Val Moosman. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Orm-ond have been vblting with Gertrude Ormond and others this week. Mr. and Mrs. S. Keener of Los Angeles who customarily visit us in October, spent several days at Doyle Mqosraan's this week. Since deer hunting Is out of (continued on back pagi) Nethella (continued from front page) season, Doyle took Mr. Keener on a few adventures including a prowl into a hitherto unexplored cave. Tho Escalante Old Folks committee graciously extended invitations to their party Saturday to members of the Boulder ward. Vern and Emma Jane Hansen, Parley and Esther Coleman, and I were the onlf ones who would admit we were old enough to attend. Maybe wo Just like dinners and parties, especial-ly the kind they have. .Speaking of .parties, my sister Oneta and I were able to attend the reception for Joe and Minerva Heaps oh their fiftieth wedding anniversary at Bountiful. We unfortunately arrived too late to see most of the former Escalante people who attended, but wo did see Mr. and Mrs. Homer George and their parents, Mrs Lavern George and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Barker. All were looking well, even Jess with his crutches. We also saw Mr. and Mrs. Ward Alvey. w Louisa Cowles and her daughter, besides all the immediate family of Mr. and Mrs. Heaps. It was a real pleasure. |
