Show Colonel Griffin Gets Hill Field Post 1 Quality Control Office Chief Of Ogden AMA K Col. nichard V." Griffin, whose home address Is Boulder, Utah, has recently been assigned to the Ogden Air Material Area as chief of the quality control office. As chief of quality, Col. Griffin's duties Include guiding Ogden AMA activities In determining the quality level of material procured, stored, operated, maintained, and Issued. Ogden AMA procurement activities which fall under his surveillance, inspected and accepted material valued at approximately $920 million last year. Col. Griffin entered the service as a flying cadet at Ft. Douglas in March 1940 and won his wings, the following November at Kelly AFB, Texas. , He spent a year overseas in Italy during World War II where he was a B-24 bomber squadron commander, completing 50 combat missions. Col. Griffin's decorations Include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, and French Croix dc Guerre with palm. From 1947-50 he was stationed at Elmcndorf, Alaska, following which he served as iiason officer at Fort Monmouth New Jersey, then about three years at the Pentagon in Washington, followed by a year at tho War College at Montgomery, Alabama. He reported at Hill AFB following a 2H year tour of duty at Whcclus Air Base at Tripoli, North Africa, from where he did much visiting of American Air Force bases in Middle East countries. The colonel Is married to the former Marilyn Watson of, Ogden. They have Just purchased a new home at Kays-1llc. His mother is Mrs. Ne-thclla Griffin of Boulder. |
