Had a forest fire break out in the upper Valley but they got it under ontrol. We are happy to report that Mrs. Ruth . Wilcox has improved considerably, but is still in the hospi tal; LeNora Griffin is still taking treatments ".d can walk much better, maybe by the 24th of July she can run foot races. Missed lots of Memorial Day visitors and got told about some of them; J. C. Haws and family of Vernal, Mrs. Vio Sudweeks of Kingston, Norma Barnson of Salt Lake City. It took me two weeks to learn how to spell this name: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leiben-guth of Henrieville became residents of Escalante, they bought the old Les George homu and have moved in with their two sons and a daughter, Walt works for Paul Steed so if Paul is permanent they likely will be also. Other visitors here were: Mrs. . Amanda Johnson, her grancison Neal and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thatcher and family; Mr. an-' Mrs Ivan Davenport of Kearns came to visit her mother Mrs. Eliza Mclneljy, they also brought Eliza's granddaughter Lois Spencer and her little daugh- ter, Cristinc, who came to see her Grandpa Ro'nald Schow for the first time. Mr. and Mrs Rex Haycock of Lehi were visitors at the Jim Haycock home, they took Jim and Alice, also Mrs. Ann S. Alvey to Tropic to spend the day Thursday. (continued inside) KSCALANTE Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lenmark and family of four of Wisconsin were visitors at the Billie Davis home, he is one of those "friendly undertakers", don't know whether he was just on vacation or here drumming up some business. Shannon Ros-siter of Pasadena, California is here visiting his grandparents, the -Andrew Porters, he is Warietta's son, and came with Carl Spencer who has employment there and came home for his vacation to help his father Usher on the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Cluff of Sevier Valley were weekend visitors at the Wayne Barney home; Wayne had to take the day off from the Post Office Monday to take Ionna to Panguitch to ihe Doctor to have her all taped up, she fell in the Septic Tank and broke some ribs. Freeman Alvey was working for the Forest and had some kind of spell, they carried him out on a stretcher and brought him home, they will take him to the doctor if he don't come out of it. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Palmer of California were visitors at the Glover Smith home. Ernest Henderson of Henrievllle, Dora, and Mr. and Mrs, Earl Henderson and family of Salt Lake City camo here and got their relatives, Maud Reynolds, Nollio Bailey and Carrie Griffin and went up the canyon for supper to celebrate the birthdays of some of them; Tony Reynolds came back from California and has a job |
