Show The Word from Boulder BY IRENE KING Hello Everyone I'm to write the news for a few weeks. Nethella has gone on a trip, leaving Boulder Friday with us, she went as far as Gunnison where she visited her daughter Mrs. Howard Larsen until bus time 9 p.m. when she headed south again. She plans to visit Phoenix and various parts of Arizona, then in California with friends and relatives. Clyde and I went on to Spanish Fork to attend their annual Cattlemen ' and Cow Belles banquet. As state Cow Belle president, each time I attend these 'functions, I speak my piece which is to join the state and local Cattlemen's organization. Here in Boulder, by the government corral the bottom dropped out of the road. The state road crew started Monday to fill in, it took three days to get it packed down enough to hold traffic. A few of us went to the tie-off game last Monday in Tropic. We enjoyed it all game, fights, arguments and greeting old friends. Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Alvey went to Panguitch. He ws operated on Tuesday in the hospital, and is feeling light and wobbly after the removal of 57 gallstones. , Wednesday, Mrs. Veda Be- hunin had a quilting. Mrs. Twila Mclnelly of Escalante was here to help. Also that day Mrs. Mary Hiskey of Teasdale came here with the . mail, visited nephews Ivan and Truman Lyman and their families and a few friends, and left about an hour after arnval, with the mail. v Thursday, Max Bruce and Ute Gardner of Kanab were here on BLM business. Stanley Beggs of the State Fish and Game Commission left Boulder for Hanksville headed for Circle Cliffs; two hours later he was back, thinking he lost the road when he got into long canyon between its high sheer walls, no room for a car to go through. I assured him the road was there so he started again. Doyle Moosman, the school bus driver, saw him going toward Escalante on the way home from school. Was the road too rugged, or did he just feel too lost to follow it? Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Heb-er Poulsen went to Richfield to meet their daughters. Sherry Lee came home with them for a visit. They also brought grandson Bradley, son of Dorothy Jean and Sherril Alvey of Layton. The Vern Hansens were business visitors in Panguitch on Wednesday. Linda accompanied us to Spanish Fork and Provo Friday and stayed a few days for a check on her glasses. Sunday Sacrament meeting speakers were Garland Mitch-v ell of Escalante and Larry Coombs. Garland's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Mitchell, Arvonne Alvey, Carol Joy Shirts, and Flora Baker and four sons, all of "Escalante, were church visitors. Stake officers Laurie Dee Holly of Cannonville and Mrs. Orlan Colvin of Tropic, were Sunday School visitors. Held a special faculty meeting. Laurie's small daughter accompanied them. This Monday a m. all is activity. Everyone is rounding up calves and bringing them to the big corral for vaccinations. Tom Dodds from Panguitch is supposed to be here soon. Also saw Max and Veda Behunin leave on a business trip to Panguitch. - |
