Some motorist - brought Florence to town where she received first aid from Nelda Willis and then Ivan and Nelda took her and Melyin to Panguitch. Wilford Griffin with the ambulance was summoned for the Holms woman who seemed to be hurt the worst. The two little girls escaped with only a few bruises and scratches. The last report on Maurine Schow, the daughter of the Bernard Schows. was that she was improving a great deal. Mr. and Mrs. Glade Reynolds and family visited over the weekend at the Cliff Reynolds home and with Mary R. Mclnelly. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Imlay spent a week in Hurricane visiting a sister in law and the Leo Munsons, they report that the Munsons like their new home and thatllor-tense has a job in the Stake Primary. The North Ward held their Gold and Green Ball Saturday night, there wasn't too big a crowd but the ones attending had a good time especially' with the decorations which were ballons. Thursday night was a busy night here, a ball game, two of them, and a Stake High Priests party; the Ball game was for the Marcn of Dimes and was fairly well attended, the High School girls played male members of the Riding club and some men played their wives ard other ladies, it began to look like some of us grandmothers would have to play to make up a team but we russled around and found enough without, and we really appreciate the response of the people in putting this drive over; we sent in $111.61 to the County. I got a copy of the program at the High Priests party but put n up so good I can't find it; Dale Marsh was Master of Ceremonies, George Thompson played a guitar and sang, Flora LeFevre played an accordian solo, and Reeves Baker gave h talk, if anyone got left out the slight was a lapse of memory on my part. Another Ball game here Friday night was between the Valley High and the local team, the visitors beat by two points and got eggs thrown at them after the game, some people can't loose very gracefully. Kim Lay of Kearns. came to visit his parents the Ed Lays. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Wooley went to Las Vegas for the weekend to spend it with the Stanley Listons, Juno had the weekend off and would show them the bright lights. Reed appointed a Deputy to take his job here in his absence but the fellow is very modest and did not want it made known, you wouldn't think that of Paul Steed would you? Both wards held Testimony meeting Sunday and three new babies received names and blessings, in the South, the infant son of the Dale Lymans was blessed by Gail Bailey and the North had two, the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Francisco blessed by ' Bp. Doyle Cottam and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jed Smith blessed by Grandpa date Porter. Have had several requests for copies of this ditty so with tho consent of the editor will run it here: It seems there's been complaining of the meetings without end, Welfare and Union meetings we're expected to attend. We say we don': learn anything, it's the same old ngamarow, a lot of repetition but we're required to go. and see those same dull people stand and drone away, trying to tell us something when they have nothing to say. Just a lot of repetition, we hear the same old things, doing this month after month no satisfaction brings. Before we get too radical pause and think a bit; what is there that is really new except Satelites and Sputnick? You go to church on Sunday the same old prayers are said, one blessing on the water, the other on the bread; the people teaching lessons have for their main course the same old Standard church works which follow the same course. Material for sermons these standard books contain delivered by the speakers very much the same. If they talked upon a subject that we'd never even heard, we'd say they prcacnecl false Doctrine and the whole thing was absurd. Speaking of the same old thing what is it that we eat? Dairy products, fruit and bread, vegetables and meat, three times a day and sometimes more we consume this food, and cat it with great relish just like the stuff was good, the same old things! Monotonous? Some would say it was, but still it's quite essential for livelihood because when people stop this eating it Isn't very long until they're layed away to rest with speeches and with song. So how about our Spiritual self? If we keep that alive we must give it nourishment to help it grow and thrive. Those same old things! that's what it needs those sermons, prayers and songs to feed our Spiritual self and make our testimonies strong. |
