Show Santa's Helper In England i PFC IiaDell K. Alvey, who received special commendation for helping make a merry Christmas for English children. English Children Have A Merry Xinas With, Assist From County Serviceman This year at the RAF Cranage, a basewide committee sponsored a Christmas party for 170 homeless children from four to fourteen years of age, throughout the counties of Cheshire, England. This committee from the 620th Engineer Co. have done a splendid Job in the rehabilitation of' toys which were donated by all the personnel on the base at a cost of approximately $500.00. The three engineers responsible were SFC Moore of San Francisco, PFC La Dell K. Alvey of Escalante and SP2, Reaves. They received special commenda- tions from Major J. R. Mullls, commander of the 620th, for their extraordinary interest in seeing that these young children had a very merry Christmas. PFC LaDell K. Alvey has been in the Service for two years and has an outstanding service record. His job In the department was painting toys which required an artistic touch. During his tour in the UK Alvey was an active member on the 620th softball and basketball teams. I-voy ciys, "It elves n-gre't plo"ure to give thy young" one's a hand." From the hard work of these three courageous engineers 44 homeless children of England have enjoyed Christmas. |
