Show The Word From Boulder UV NETHELLA GRIFFIN Three fine experiences I have had this weekend. I visited Ed-son Alvey's new museum in Es-cnlante. I saw forty-six 4-H Hrl model their self-made dresses In I'angultch. and I attended the Quarterly Confer- nee In Junction. You who have not seen Ed-son' now museum buildlnc. with Its fine display of Indian tellcs, pioneer antiques, and Re-t.loglcal specimens should tak the earliest opportunity "f doing so. He sure to go when Ed-on I there to explain things to you. He is one of the best In-formed persons In this locality on some phases of antropoloiiy and geology. He Is ulso an excellent amateur photographer. If you can get him to show you his projection slides, ou will he well entertained snd will likely add to your appreciation of the scenic values of thl country. It was a joy to me to wee all thoe girls, atted 10 to 18. proud-y showing off their pretty .lrcs. Mrs. Flora Uardwell-and the Ml leaders of the county are to be congratulated on the excellent work they are doing with these girts. .My visit to the county fair was a bit disappointing In that I did not get to see the boy with their displays or livestock. I also missed the riding club show. This being my rirst trip to a Garfield County fair. (I am ashamed to confess It) I did not know how to get around to the things 1 wanted to see. I blundered into a lecture on flower arrangement which proved to be a rather harrowing experience, since the lecturer wa competing with about a bundled youngsters getting ready to take part In the dress revue or waiting Impatiently to see It. Mrs. Gardner's Illustrated lec- lure was good but should have hau i separate time and place and a select audience. I wondered, too, why the Jress review and the talent show could not haw been combined in the evening leaving the afternoon for the horsemanship show and allowing the maecul-Ine portion of the fair visitors to see the fashion show. After all the main Interest In the show was not In the dresses, but In the girls wearing them. It was a privilege to attend the dedicatory services for the newly rebuilt church building in Junction and to share In small measure the satisfaction of the Junction people In their fine achievement. Decoration of the building Is the most Interesting and harmonious I havi seen In a long time, Highlight of the Conference to me was Mrs, EIRay Christen-sen's I lief talk on supporting our schools and on maintaining wholesome home life. She made us realize sharply the essentiality of these two bases of our society. Hnve you eter contemplated how awrul lUe would be. come In a few generations with no good homes or good schools' Proudest woman In Boulder tonight Is Aunt Janetle Morten-sen with her four blue ilbbons from the fair for her displays of handmade flowers anc ceramics. Mrs. Fern Coleman and Mrs. Veda Behunln are two other blue ribbon winners in the handwork division.
