Show Eugene McEwen Killed In Crossing Crash Eugene J. McEwen was killed filday morning when the truck l.o was driving collided at Woods Cross and derailed the locomotive and three cars of a passengev liner. The train was reportedly traveling about 35 m.p.h and the truck about 25 m.p.h. at the time of the collision. The truck was split, leaving the rear wheels behind as the cab, with the victim In It, was dragged 178 feet by the train. The bed, loaded with gravel, was Hraered IS feet- Mr, McEwen was born In Pangultch Jan. 26. 1920, a son of Eugene and Florence Judd McEwen. He married Betty Jane 1 Dickinson at Fredonla, Arlx. In the fprlng of 1947. For a short time until 1951, he was employed at the Naval Supply Depot, Clearfield. During World War II he received the Purple Heart for wounds received In Belgium. Surviving are his widow, three sons Stanley D., Bruce, and an unnamed 2-month-old aon, Pangultch; his parents, Sahara Village; 3 brothers, Douglas R. McEwen, Layton; 8heldon R. and Robert LeGrand McEwen, Sahara Village; 2 sisters, Mrs. Marjorte Conder, Richfield, and Mrs. Qlor-ta Athuret, Miami, Fla. Funeral services were held Wednesdsy In the North Ward, under direction of Bishop N. O.
