Show 1 I LETTERS TO THE EDITOR I II I do not agree with a word you say but I defend to the death your right ight to say it Voltaire I Dear Editor The citizens of southern Utah since the early seventy's when this country was settled have prospered and flourished nourished largely because of the livestock industry and the abundance of feed which nature provided from the forests and public domain In recent I years rears we have hae noticed because of and perhaps overgrazing overgrazing overgrazing over over- grazing of the land gradual diminishing di diminishing diminishing di- di i of this industry and andas andas as the money received from this industry has decreased we have noticed an increase in tourists With one eye ere observing the past and our Inheritance the theother theother theother other eye scanning the future and our destiny it be behooves us to be mindful of the fact that nature has been kind to us in I more ways than one ono t J Not only does the great out-of out doors furnish furnish fur fur- nish feed to produce meat wool and hides which are so vital to toman toman toman man but also it affords and un- un describable and unforgettable beauty which adds to pleasure of all who are permitted to see and enjoy it Those who desire a desert scene may find it close to Panguitch If It It is the lakes meadows tall timber Umber cliffs painted in red white orange grey or any other color or shade you may still find it within our door yard Our canyons mesa sand dunes waterfalls mountains mountains mountains mount mount- ains covered with vegetation furnish such a variety of scenery that we know one will vill always find suitable setting for any kind of picture In Casto Canyon about six miles from Panguitch one Is Ismore ismore ismore more than amazed when viewing the towering walls hanging hocks with every sample of or conceivable carved by the hand of or nature and typical of the architecture of southern Utah When a person finds himself so completely surrounded surrounded surrounded sur sur- rounded by all kinds of beauty ashe as ashe ashe he does in one glimpse while in Casto Canyon his first wish Is th that thai It was petrified so it would never change When the same person sees the same spot after a rain when each crevice has its it's own waterfall and the color is so changed he thanks God it isn't petrified and realizes that the great architecture Is still Like the diamond is made more valuable with carving and polishing our country will be by building of airplane landing fields fields good roads hotels places of or amusement and most of or all by all of us educating ourselves to the fact that we must advertise advertise advertise adver adver- tise and sell more and more to those who come from far away places If It every child or adult When by tho traveling traveling traveling travel travel- ing public who may stop to make an inquiry about the road or di direction direction di- di would direct them by byway byway byway way of or more of or our beauty spots they too could share with us this beauty And If it every tourist In Interested Interested interested In- In in Bryce Bryco Canyon was also told about Panguitch Lake Tropic Reservoir Boulder mountain mountain mountain moun moun- tain petrified forests home of cliff cUff dwellers made to feel teel that they are welcome to return again and again ain to enjoy use take away and yet leave with us the beauty and hospitality of southern southern southern south south- ern Utah Branch Dranch Office Supervisor for Dept of Employment Security |
