Show SPECIAL SESSION SESSI N OF CITY COUNCIL the city council met ia la special session monday at 12 noon with mayor simonsen councilmen jonsen jensen bargeron and bunderson the board 0 of health city physicians miss ruth hansen public nurse and sant sani tary Inspector john IL burt present the purpose ot of the meeting was waa to discuss some phases ot of the health situation with a view toward effective cooperative work and proper understanding of matters imperative at this time mayor reported that neighboring cities proffer assistance by way ot of doctors and public and private nurses it if necessary the matter of 0 vaccine was discussed and the physicians agreed to use any standard vaccine procurable sanitary inspector burt was authorized to obtain all vaccine possible of standard quality the question ot of obtaining additional public nurses was considered miss hansen public nurse stated that it Is impossible tor for her to visit all the homes where illness from the malady prevails and give the needed la instructions as to care ot of the sick dr pearse stated that it la Is ot of vital importance that ins instructions eruct I 1 ong be given at once as to proper sanitation fly prevention care ot of milk supply etc in order to prevent a yearly reoccur ence ot of the malady for some time mr air E al tyson representing the red cross appeared and proffered to furnish three three public nurses council expressed appreciation of the offer which was gratefully accepted in addition council decided to employ two additional addition il public nurses dr smith suggested that the county board ot of health be requested to cooperate in handling the present health situation acting upon dr smiths suggestion it was the sense sense odthe ot the council that mayor simonsen Sl invite the county board of 0 health to attend the regular meeting of council tuesday evening councilman jensen reported that under the supervision of the manager test holes were being dug in the suspicious places in the mantua fields along the pipe line in order to try and determine the source of the supposed contamination ot of the water supply but that so tar far no percolation whatever in the pipe line has been found report accepted mrs airs nels jensen and other oiher representatives enta tives of the relief societies of 0 brigham were present and advised council ofiel of relict lef work being done by members of the organization and stated that they are willing to give every assistance possible mr hans secretary of 0 board of health was present and stated that tor for certain reasons he would like to tender his resignation as such secretary matter was discussed and mr ard rd was prevailed upon to continue la in his present capacity at least until the present epidemic has subsided to which he consented mr air proffered the board of health and council some valuable suggestions in the matter of 0 record keeping based on his experience as military officer I 1 in U his U native ati V 0 land in order to assemble the necessary data on the two water supply projects in mantua to present the information to the citizens at the contemplated mass meeting to be held in the near future mayor simonsen Sl was authorized to request of the state board of health assistance from state geologist mr air petersen state sanitary engineer A S bedell and one consulting engineer |
