Twelve months In jail for Samuel Gompers, president: nlno months for John Mitchell, ono of the vIco-presldcntB, nnd six months for Frank Morrison, secretary, all of tho American Federation of Labor, was tho sentence Impobed by Justlco Wright of tho supreme court of tho District of Columbia on Wednesday for contempt of court In violating an order enjoining them from placing on tho unfair list, or "Wo Don't) Patronize" Pat-ronize" list, tho Iluck Stove & Range company of St. Louis. All of tho defendants wero In court when sentence wns pronounced, nnd notice of nn nppeal to tho District of Columbia appellate court wns filed, Gompers being released on $5,000 bonds. Mitchell on $4,000 and Morri son on $3,000. Tho wlfo and daughter of Mr. Gompers Gom-pers heard tho sentence and wero visibly vis-ibly nffectod. With tears couralng down his checks, President Gompers heard the order which condemned him to prison for n year. Botlr Mitchell nnd Morrison becmed stunned, nlthough Mitchell appeared to bo tho least concerned. Asked It ho had anything to say why Bontcnce should not bo pronounced, President Gompers declared that ho had not consciously violated nny law.
