Show SEATTLE'S SHOW A SUCCESS The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, Which Was Visited by 3,750,000 People, Comes to a Close. Seattle, Wash. At midnight Saturday, Sat-urday, October 10, the 150,000 electric elec-tric lights of tho Alaska-Yukon-Paclllo exposition wero put out, closing tho world's fair of 1909, which from every standpoint was moro successful than its most zealous friends had dared to hope. Tho exposition, the purpose of which was to acquaint tho world with tho manifold resources of the Pacific coast, including Alaska, Yukon Territory Terri-tory and British Columbia, has amply fulfilled Its mission. The total attendance at-tendance was nearly 3,750,000, and so many visitors enme from eastern states that tho railroads .woro unable to handle them comfortably. Tho exposition was financed by tho peoplo of Seattle, without a government govern-ment loan. An appropriation by the stato derived from tho sale of state lands In this city was expended foi permanent buildings, which revorl to tho stato university, on whoso cannpus tho exposition wns hold. Tho grounds wcro parked at, a cost of $500,000, tho walks and othor Improvements Im-provements being permanent.
