| Show TROOP F N G Us IL INSPECTED INSPECT EIT major john J waterman ot of fort douglas major W W gordon major hamilton gardner and sergeant W L franchere Fren chere officers ot of the utah national guard with headquarters at salt lake city were in brigham city tuesday inspecting troop F cavalry N G U the troop is composed of the officers and sixty tour four men and is under the command of captain ruel M eskelsen major waterman was hero here as the inspecting officer first thing in the morning the stables which are located on second east and fourth north streets were looked over there are thirty one horses which are under the care of Sergeant Harvey pierce the stables were found in the best ot of shape the officers complimenting on the good condition ot of the horses and equipment and the cleanliness ot of the surroundings the armory including the office and the books were then looked over the armory Is in charge ot of first lieutenant leo facer here too everything was found in fine condition and the officer in charge complimented during the afternoon major gordoa inspected the rifle range on the hill bill east of the city and pronounced it one of the lest best in the state at eight in the evening the guardsman guardsmen guards guardsman guardsmen guards men in full uniform were lined up and major waterman and the other officers give them a scrutinizing inspection spec tion the troops were then turned over to lieutenants ernest freeman and louis jones who took them through a rigid drilling following this major waterman talked to the boys he complimented them on their appearance stating that they were the neatest bunch of fellows he had ever inspected the major also praised their drilling which he pronounced excellent cel lent and paid pad them tho the high compliment aliment by saying he would like to have this troop under his command while in the city the officers are quoted as having stated that the brigham troops had passed the highest inspection spec tion ot of any in the state all having been looked over with the exception of two also that the federal government and the state of utah are getting value received by having the troop in this city the officers returned to salt lake city wednesday morning well pleased with their visit to brigham city the brigham armory occupying the lower floor door ot of the academy of masic Is one of the best in the state here one will find plenty of room for everything all in fine shape and everything tip top the rooms include one tor for arm racks a supply room locker room hot and cold shower baths store room recreation room indoor target range office room etc the supplies ar are e found in the very best of condition and shape and the place Is spotlessly clean the recreation room provides a place of amusement and is being beilig fitted out in fine shape shade tor for the troop troopers eri the members of the local post ot of the I 1 american legion also have access to this room about the first ot of the year a band was organized which is under the direction of arthur neeley the by boys are making rapid progress and will soon be heard on our streets in order to appreciate what the troop of the national guard means to this city all one has to do is to visit their splendid quarters and find out what they have and what they are doing the officers and men are i indeed deed a credit to brigham city ranking as they do as one of the very best troops of tho the state |
